HPE ProLiant Gen11 Servers in Dubai
If someone quoted you a Gen11 server and you're wondering whether Gen12 makes it the wrong choice — that's the right question. Here's the honest answer.
The assumption most buyers make when they see Gen12 exists is that Gen11 must be winding down. It isn't. Gen11 was released in late 2022. It is fully current, actively sold, and will remain supported for years. DDR5 memory is standard across the entire range. PCIe Gen4 and Gen5 connectivity is available by model and configuration. iLO 6 with Silicon Root of Trust is built into every unit. For UAE businesses buying today, Gen11 is a legitimate platform — not a compromise.
The mistake is paying for capability you won't use. Gen12 makes a real difference when the workload specifically needs it — Intel Xeon 6's core density, DDR5 at 6,400 MT/s, direct liquid cooling, iLO 7's Secure Enclave. If those match what you're running, the premium earns back. If they don't, you're buying a platform you'll never stretch. VMware virtualization environments, SQL Server database hosts, ERP server deployments, file and print servers, and domain controllers all run without friction on Gen11 and will continue to do so.

The concern with any server is what happens at 3AM when something goes wrong. Gen11 answers that with iLO 6 — the dedicated management processor that runs independently of the OS. If the operating system crashes, iLO 6 is still running. Full remote console, power controls, firmware management — with no additional licence cost since Gen11. The Active Health System logs up to 1.5 years of health and performance data continuously on the server itself, so when something goes wrong you have history to diagnose from. Silicon Root of Trust validates firmware at every boot and reverts automatically if tampering is detected. Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, and runtime firmware protection are standard. This is not a Gen12-exclusive feature — every Gen11 unit supplied through the authorized channel has it.
The honest answer on Gen12 is that it matters a lot for some workloads and not much for others. Intel Xeon 6 takes maximum cores per socket from 60 in Gen11 to 144 performance cores or 288 efficiency cores. DDR5 moves from 5,600 MT/s to 6,400 MT/s. PCIe 5 becomes standard across the range instead of mixed Gen4/Gen5. iLO 7 adds a Secure Enclave, SPDM component authentication — which verifies every drive, network card and power supply is genuine HPE — FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certification, and quantum-resistant cryptography. Optional direct liquid cooling lands across rack models. Two model numbers that didn't exist in Gen11 — the DL320 Gen12 and DL340 Gen12 — fill gaps at entry and mid tier. Cutting your VMware licence cost with HPE AMD servers
Since VMware moved to per-core licensing, the more cores in your server, the higher the bill. There's a hardware answer to that — and it's the question worth asking first.
The one question that changes the quote
"Are you on per-core VMware licensing?" If the answer is yes, the server you choose can move the licence bill more than any discount we could give you. Per-core means every core you add is billed — so the trick is fewer, denser sockets.
