The honest read: for a general virtualization or database workload, a Gen11 and a Gen12 server will feel similar in daily use. Gen12 pulls clearly ahead when you need very high core density (144 vs 64), maximum flash storage (36 vs 12 drives), or the newest security posture. If none of those apply to you, that's a genuine point in Gen11's favour — not something a manufacturer's page will tell you.

If you're on Gen10 or older, you're two to three generations back — moving to Gen12 means jumping from DDR4 to DDR5-6400, PCIe Gen3 to Gen5, and iLO 5 to iLO 7, on top of a large core-count increase.
